Captain Tiberius Ecks was born on a colony planet, Seltoid V, in the Archimedes system. The planet faces a plethora of pirate activity due to it's robust economy and a nearby nebula. (Further description of this will be added to Seltoid V page).

Captain Tib's parents died when a freighter had a total systems failure and crashed outside the spaceport (not pirate related) when he was 3. He spent the rest of his childhood living with his loving, but overprotective grandparents. To escape the 'smothering', he joined the colony militia early, at the age of 15.

In the militia, he served on a small frigate called the Sundance. Since he was the youngest crew member, people took to calling him the Sundance Kid, although the nickname did not stick with him later in life. he trained as both a navigator and a gunner. At 17, he started college, going for aerospace engineering, and became a junior officer.

At 20, Captain Tibs became the captain the Sundance and a Commander Robert Joe Johnson transferred in as his second in command. Over the course of several months, Tibs started discovering a disturbing trend of variations in the patrols of the frigate, that appeared to be allowing several recent pirate infiltrations on the planet.

Shortly after his 21st birthday, Tibs decided to confirm his suspicions. While off duty, he made a surprise appearance on the bridge and made sure that the Sundance maintained it's course. Sure enough, they ran smack into an incoming pirate raid. The ensuing battle wasn't decisive, but the valiant efforts of Tibs and the crew were able to force the pirates off.

Shortly after the battle, the ship received a communication to rendezvous with another frigate in the fleet. After arrival, a ferry between was dispatched with a marine force and Tibs was shocked to find that he was being arrested. Immediately, Tiberius was locked in the brig before he could send any communications to headquarters. When they arrived back at base a month later, the Little John had manipulated the records to look like Tibs was the one altering the flight plans, and Tibs found himself court martialed and imprisoned.

Soon after his court martial, Tib's grandparents passed away. The prison did not let him attend the funerals. Tibs stayed quiet after that, and isolated himself from everyone. The only exception was his participation in the dice and card tournaments the inmates held for recreation. When not gambling, Tibs occupied himself with designing the starship of his dreams.

After two years, Tibs was released for good behavior and told to leave the planet. With a datapad, 100 credits, and a one way third class ticket, he headed off into the galaxy.

A year later, Tibs happened into a high stakes game of Majiks that was a player short. Starting with just 10,000 credits, he stayed in the match until he was up to 50 million credits. The last man standing at the table happened to be none other than Francois Tambeau, owner of Alterion, Inc., renowned for their top of the line starship manufacturing facilities. Tibs struck a deal with Francois to have his dream ship built, which came to be known as the n-Igma.
