Power source
Most modern day ships are powered by the essence of a special plant called the Ignacia plant. This plant was first developed on Lume as an answer to the planet's growing energy crisis. The cultivation and use of this energy source has spread throughout the entire galaxy. Very few species use a different energy source.
Weapon Systems
Accelerating particles of Ignacia essence used to create plasma-like weapon systems. Used in a slightly different way, the essence can be used to create an electromagnetic charge, which can be used in conjunction with projectile accelerators. These projectile accelerators are commonly used as missile launchers, but can be used to launch other objects as well.
Ship Construction
Ship construction can vary slightly from planet to planet. That being said, the Galactic Empire Military gets the majority of its ships from Jaromus Shipyards. Ships are typically made from metal alloys, although there are certain planets that use very dense hardwood as ship components. Space worm shells are another rarer type of material used for ship construction.
Energy Shields
Shield projectors use Ignacia essence to project particles in a field on the outside of a spaceship. Shields vary in strength based on the type of shield unit and the purity of the Ignacia essence.
Interstellar Travel
Most large spaceships and some smaller ships are equipped with a hyperdrive which allows them to travel between systems at speeds that are faster than the speed of light. The speeds vary depending on what type of ship/hyperdrive.
